Class will start at NILEA at 730 AM and will continue in the afternoon at the Hobart Range located on SR 51. (Behind Stracks)
The Off Duty Survival Course is for the officer who carries off duty and for detectives that carry concealed. This class will start in the classroom where officers will learn when to and when not to intervene in situations while off duty or in plain clothes and how to conceal their handguns efficiently.
At the range officers will learn how to draw from concealment and shoot, both faster and more accurately along with make quick accurate follow up shots under stress. The course will cover equipment set up, weapon manipulation, drawing, reloads, low ready positions, injured hand drills. It is recommended that the officers bring the weapons they routinely carry off duty or concealed on duty along with spare ammo they carry in them. Officers should also bring a second handgun with an off duty holster that is more comfortable to shoot since shooting some smaller handguns can be hard on the hands.
