In collaboration with the Hammond Police Department and the Lake County Sexual Assault Response Team (SART), the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP) will host the two-day IACP Trauma Informed Sexual Assault Investigation Training on Wednesday, September 26th - Thursday, September 27th, 2018 at the Crown Point Community Library located at 122 S Main St, Crown Point, IN 46307.
• This training event is free to attend! Please register by Friday, September 14th.
• Open to local, state, campus and tribal law enforcement (of all ranks), in addition to advocates, SANE nurses, prosecutors, Title IX investigators, and other relevant community professionals.
• Class hours: 9:30 AM — 5:00 PM
The goal of the training is to strengthen the capacity of law enforcement to provide an effective response to victims of sexual assault.
At present, crimes of sexual assault are vastly underreported and perpetrators continue undetected. This training aims to equip law enforcement to understand the complexities of adult sexual assault by presenting information centered on the neurobiological impact of trauma, the influence of societal myths and stereotypes regarding victim response and perpetrator behavior, and effective methods for conducting sexual assault investigations.
Support from the Department of Justice Office on Violence Against Women (OVW) has made this on-site training possible
