HOMICIDE INVESTIGATION COURSE DESCRIPTION
Dates: January 24, 25, 26 2022 Time: 8:00am - 4:00pm
Northwest Indiana Law Enforcement Academy (NILEA)

This three day course focuses on new and established detectives, and supervisors.
The course covers a variety of topics including: responsibilities of the Homicide Detective; securing the crime scene; the Medical Examiner and Prosecutor's role; suspect development and elimination; documentation and report writing; interview and interrogation; live and digital evidence and family interaction after the incident.
On the last day of the course, Lake County Prosecutor Bernard Carter will speak, and take questions, regarding the prosecution process. In addition, Detectives will hear the stories of families who lost a loved one to homicide.
The course will be led by Chicago Police Department Homicide Detectives.

interviews, interrogation, report writing and testifying.

Cost per student is $250. Students will receive training credits from the Northwest Indiana Law Enforcement Academy (NILEA)
